Release 2.0 Alpha 1
After allmost one year of the development we think it's finally time to start final stages of the development before we release version 2.0. You can get it from the project page on the Sourceforge.
The primary goal of the alpha releases is to align IKEv2 daemon with the relevant specifications and to correct any major errors we made during design and development of the IKEv2. There will be several alpha versions before we start beta cycle whose only goal will be to correct as many bugs as possible before final release.
In the following week or two we'll place here VMware images that will allow everyone to try IKEv2 without going through painfull compile/install/configure cycle from scrach. At the moment we release those images, announcement will be made on the development mailing list!
Any questions related to the IKEv2 should go to the development mailing list on the SourceForge. If you found a bug, then please report it in the bug database, also on the SourceForge.
DISCLAIMER
IPsec protocols, and IKEv2 protocol in particular, are very complex protocols and require at least some basic knowledge before using them.
Furthermore, Linux's implementation of IPsec is also very complex, undocumented, and picky on the details. So, another level of knowledge is necessary.
On top of all that, IKEv2 implementation is also complex and has quirks of it's own (not to say bugs)!
So, in short, if you are a newcomer to this are you have to be patient and learn some basics. If you are experienced user of IPsec, again I ask you to be patient because IKEv2 daemon is not finished yet, and to be finished and of good quality, it needs as much input from users, as possible.
